Admission and Residency Requirements
The requirements for admission to Master’s Degree program are as follows:
Evaluation of applicants for admission is based primarily on the student's academic record in relevant undergraduate coursework. Applicants are expected to have sufficient knowledge in undergraduate level mathematics and be familiar with common software packages.
Degree Requirements
The minimum degree requirements for Master’s program in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering for students with 4-year B.Sc. degree in ETE or equivalent subject are 36 credits. The program is either thesis based or project based. The degree names and requirements of the Master’s program are given below:
Thesis based Degree: Master of Science in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Project based Degree: Master of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering
Thesis/Project defense will be conducted by a 4-member examination committee that consists of three permanent faculty members and one external member.
Students from academic discipline, other than ETE or equivalent subject, will be required to complete a maximum of 30 credit hours prerequisite courses in addition to these 36 credits. However, substantial real-life work experience in the Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering field may be considered to waive some prerequisite courses.
Duration of the Program:
Duration of the program is three semesters (18-24 month), if a student enrolls as a full time student. But a student may also enroll as a part time student and take less number of courses. If a student needs to take pre-requisite courses prior to admission, he/she will need more than 3 semesters depending on the number of courses he/she needs to undertake. However, a student must complete his/her degree within five years from the date of his/her initial enrolment of the Master’s program.
Program Structure:
Theoretical courses are organized under three groups: Group 1, Group 2 and Group 3. Group 3 is a list of prerequisite courses for students without graduation in ETE or equivalent subjects.

Group 3: Prerequisite Courses (24 Credits)
Students with bachelor's degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent will not be required to do prerequisite courses. Students without graduation in ETE or equivalent subject may have to take a maximum of eight 3-credit courses that is, 24 credits from this group. A student should select four courses from ETE 5001-ETE 50xx courses and four courses from ETE 5021-ETE 50xx courses. Students must complete necessary prerequisite courses with at least grade C in each course.

A student must complete the necessary pre-requisite courses before starting with any of the courses in Group 1 and Group 2. Rest of the courses may be taken in combination with Masters Courses. Group 3 courses are normal undergraduate courses and Masters Students with pre-requisite requirements will attend these courses with undergraduate students.
Thesis/Project:
After completion of the required number of courses in different groups Thesis based students will have to complete 18 credits of Thesis work and Project based students will have to complete 6 credits of Project work.

Thesis/Project Committee and Oral Examination:
The Head of the ETE Department will set up the Thesis/Project Committee for M.Sc. in ETE or M.Engg. for ETE students. This should be approved by the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Information Technology. The Thesis/Project Committee for Master's degree program shall consist of four members (of them three must be from the department including head of the department and one must be external member). The Thesis/Project Committee will conduct the oral examination of the thesis or the project report and grade the students based on his/her performance.
Grading and Performance Evaluation:
Performance of a student will be evaluated as follows:

Presentation: 10%
Mid Term : 25%
Final Exam : 40%
Total 100%
After the evaluation, a letter grade will be awarded to a student according to the following grading policy approved by the University Grant Commission of Bangladesh:

The grade for the Thesis/Project and for the Seminar would be either ‘Satisfactory’ (S) or ‘Unsatisfactory’ (U). Any student obtaining ‘U’ grade will get the opportunity to resubmit the Thesis/Project Report and shall re-appear before the Thesis/Project Examination Committee. But this opportunity is limited to only two times.
Semester Schedule:
The university conducts courses organized under three semesters; Semester 1: From January to April, Semester 2: From May to August and Semester 3: From September to December.
