Md. Zahidul Islam, a student of ETE department of Daffodil International University has been awarded 2nd runner's up position in the TELCO Tele War Competition held in East West University on 29th November 2016..There were about 500 participants and competitors from 32 public and private universities of Bangladesh.
We congratulate Mr. Zahidul Islam for his outstanding performance and bringing honor for DIU. We wish him all success in near future.
A two members team of Daffodil International University led by Md. Hasib Mahmud Rabby, student of the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Md. Towfiqul Alom Student of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering attended the 2nd International Art Creativity and Engineering Exhibition-2016 held during 20 to 21 July 2016 in University Ubudiyah Indonesia with their project ‘Anirbaan: An Intelligent Robot’ and won three awards on outstanding innovation and project in I+ ACEH at University Ubudiyah Indonesia, and achieved a special award for innovation idea awarded by Dr. Hong, President of Korean Innovation Academy.
2nd I + ACEH 2016 is an international innovation exhibition where around 85 teams from various countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada, USA, South Korea, Thailand and Bangladesh were attending, which was divided into four categories of competition; recycling art competition, creativity and innovation competition, robotics competition and engineering technology competition.
‘Anirbaan’ is a remote-controlled Robot used for Intelligent Spy with Action cameras, flexible, small size and less weight. The robot has the function to collect the temperature; obstacle and gas censored data of an unexplored area or cave and provide it as a report for the rescue moments through mobile apps. The system can be run practically everywhere providing a small place for over 15 minutes and send the information via wireless video transmitter downlinks using live signal to the camera operator.
The two days long Olympiad competition, entitled “TeleMpiad 2006” organized by NSU wireless forum, has recently been finished on 28th July, 2006. In total, ten public and private universities including Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology, University of Dhaka, North South University and Daffodil International University have participated in this competition. Three out of ten prizes have been won by Md. Omor Ali (2nd prize), Shamim Ahmed (4th prize) and Popi Siddiqua (5th prize) - the students of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department, Daffodil International University. The certificates and prizes were awarded on July 6, 2006 in the presence of the Telecommunication Professionals, Teachers and the Prospective Engineers. The DIU team was coordinated by Mr. A. K. M Fazlul Hoque, Lecturer, Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. The winners were congratulated by the DIU authority, teachers, officials and students.
Daffodil International University Debating Club won the title of ‘IHEW Foundation-EFA Debate Festival’06’ which was held in Nazrul Institute during 17 to 25 September, 2006. Eight teams participated in the EFA Debate Festival including University of Dhaka Debating Society, Daffodil International University Debate Club, North South Debating Club, Stamford University, Northern University, and the Debating Club of People’s University.
Final competition between Dhaka University Debating Society (DUDS) and Daffodil International University Debate Club (DIUDC) held on 25th September and DIUDC won the title. Topic of the debate was- Uniform grading system will bring more failure than success. The Prize giving ceremony was held on 25th September where Professor Dr. M. Moniruzzaman, Former Vice Chancellor of University of Dhaka was the chief guest. Among others Mr. Symon, Chief Executive Officer, EFA, Faculty members of various universities were present on that occasion.
The team members of Daffodil International University Debate Club (DIUDC) were Md. Safayet Hossain, Ziaul Haque Sumon, Kawser Ahmed Ornab. Mr. Masud Ibn Rahman, Coordinator, Daffodil International University Debate Club (DIUDC) denoted himself in setting their success.
The 2nd Daffodil Inter-University Programming Contest 2007 was held during August 19-20, 2007 at the auditorium of DIU. Some 63 teams from 26 universities over the country participated in the competition.
BUET Black Hats team was awarded the first prize. BUET Asterix and BUET Judge Crashers group have been awarded second and third position respectively. Competition was held in the main campus of DIU and prize-awarding ceremony was held at the auditorium located at Business Campus. Ten teams were awarded at the prize giving ceremony. Professor Muhammed Zafar Iqbal as the Chief Judge at the contest announced the results. Professor Dr. Tareque Shamsur Rahman, Member of University Grants Commission (UGC) attended the ceremony as Chief Guest. The ceremony was chaired by Md. Sabur Khan, the Chairman, BOG, DIU. Dr. M Kaykobad, Professor, Department of CSE, BUET was the convener of Technical Committee.
In the prize awarding ceremony Professor Dr. Aminul Islam, VC, DIU delivered his welcome speech. Among others Professor M. Shahjahan Mina, Pro VC, DIU, Dr. M Kaykobad, Professor, Department of CSE, BUET, Mr. Shahriar Manzoor, Judge ACM contest addressed on the occasion.
Among others Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka University (DU), Rajshahi University (RU), Chittagong University of Engieering and Technology (CUET), North South University (NSU), East West University (EWU) participated in contest.
Daffodil International University organized a daylong program entitled ‘1st science Olympiad 2006’. 180 students of 18 Public and Private Universities took part in the knowledge-based competition. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Aminul Islam inaugurated the program at 9am.
In this program Heads of Computing and Information System, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics and Tele-communication Engineering, Computer Science, Textile Engineering and Information Technology Faculty along with the representatives of various Public and Private Universities such as University of Dhaka, Jahangirnagar, University, Khulna University, BUET, RUET, Rajshahi University were present. Students spontaneously took part in three hours competition in five subjects like Communication Engineering/ Technology, Mathematics, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Physics. Prizes were distributed among the winners at Russian Cultural Centre, Dhanmondi, in the afternoon. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Aminul Islam presided over the certificate and prize awarding ceremony. Professor M. Asaduzzaman, chairman, University Grants Commission was the chief guest and Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, chairman, BOG, DIU was the special guest.
The function started with the welcome address delivered by Professor Dr. Lutfar Rahman, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, DIU. The guests gave thanks to those competitors who came from deferent parts of the country to take part in this program.
The First Daffodil Poetry Recitation Competition organized by the Department of English was held on August11, 2007 at the DIU auditorium. UGC Professor Serajul Islam Chaudhury graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Professor Aminul Islam, Vice Chancellor of DIU, delivered welcome speech. Prof. Islam mentioned about the good old days of his student life in relation with the importance of cultural activities.
Chief Guest Prof. Serajul Islam said that it is the duty of any university to teach aesthetics to its students and he hailed DIU for arranging such a wonderful occasion. He also underscored the role of a university in improving social relation and cultural harmony. Professor Shahjahan Mina, Pro-Vice Chancellor in his address said that cultural activities play a vital role in shaping the minds of students. Dr. Khondakar Ashraf Hossain, Professor and Chairman of the Department of English, University of Dhaka spoke on the occasion as a Special Guest. He talked about the reading of a poem for its metrical and phonetically beauty referring poetry as the most beautiful expression of human mind. He said, "A lyric can give a heart the peace which no epic can offer." On behalf of the jury Pragna Labony discussed on perfection in recitation and performance. She also emphasized on practice of correct pronunciation. Dr. Maniruzzaman, Professor of English, Jahangirnagar University (JU) and Mr. Ahmed Reza, Associate Professor, JU, were the judges in the competition. Twenty-two participants from different departments took part in both Bengali and English recitation competition. Dr. Khondakar Ashraf Hossain and Mahbub Parvez, Head of BBA Program took part in recitation. Professor Dr. K. Rezaur Rahman, Head of the Department of English presented vote of thanks.
Students with assistance of the head of the Department of Textile Engineering, DIU and Jute Diversification Promotion Center (JDPC) of the Bangladesh Government jointly organized Display of Jute Products at the main campus of the University. Professor Aminul Islam, VC,
Professor M. Shahjahan Mina, Pro-VC, Professor Dr. S.M. Mahbub-Ul-Haque Majumder, Head of Textile Engineering Department visited the show.
The show attracted audience especially for different types of jute bags and other jute products. Professor Aminul Islam emphasized the need of using country goods to encourage local products and save the producers. He also urged the students of Textile Department to engage themselves in creative activities of the Department.
Journalism Professor from the University of Oklahoma, U.S.A, Kythrin J White visited the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of the Daffodil International University on December 13, 2007. She spoke to the students of journalism on “Responsible Press and Society” and answered questions of the participants. Professor Dr. Golam Rahman, Head, Department of Journalism and Mass Communication presided over the meeting. The visitor met to the Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor of DIU after meeting.
Samakal Surith and DIU organized a five- day ‘Voting for Coxs Bazar, Sundarban and Padma delta’ to ensure the placement of these natural beauty in the Seven Natural Wonders at DIU campus on August 5, 2008.
Samakal Editor Abed Khan was the chief guest in the inaugural program with Professor Aminul Islam, Vice-Chancellor of the university in the chair. DIU Board of Governor Chairman M. Sabur Khan was also attended in the program as special guest.

Speakers urged the students to work as the ambassador of Bangladesh through voting in favor of these natural places. Around two thousands students, faculty members, Officers of DIU cast their votes in the five day vote campaign.
