Celebrating "World Tourism Day 2022" Highlighting Traditional Sports Event “খেলার হাট-বাজার “.

We are delighted to celebrate the World Tourism Day 2022 organized by the Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Daffodil International University. 

World Tourism Day will be celebrated as the shift towards tourism is recognized as a crucial pillar of development and progress is well underway. The theme “Rethinking Tourism” will reflect this. It aims to inspire the debate around rethinking tourism for development, including through education & jobs, and tourism’s impact on the planet and opportunities to grow more sustainably.

On this glorious occasion, we are arranging a traditional sports event titled “খেলার হাট-বাজার “. The event will cover the representation of Bangladeshi cultural elements and traditional sports on 27th September 2022 at Daffodil Smart City, Ashulia, Dhaka.

On this day, the celebration will start with a colorful rally in the morning. After the inaugural session, industry personnel from hotels, Airlines, Tourism, etc. will visit the traditional game shop arranged by the students of the THM department. All the guests will participate in the traditional Bangladeshi game: Kabadi, Ghuri Uthshob, Hari Banga, Balish Khela, Latim, Dariabanda, Gollachut, Bou-ci, Kanamachi, Marbel Khela and enjoy traditional food. With the prize-giving ceremony and closing session, we will wrap up the celebration of World Tourism Day 2022.

Students of ESDM receive the National Award in iPrepare Campaign by ADPC, 2014

Ms. Rezoana Hossain Khan and Mr. Sajjadul Alam, both students of Environmental Science & Disaster Management Department of Daffodil International University, have received the National Award for iPrepare Competition organized by Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) with support from the Royal Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs held at the Teacher Student Center of Dhaka University. Dr. Mahbuba Nasrin, Director & Professor at the Institute of Disaster Management & Vulnerability Studies at Dhaka University, Ms. Leila Uotila, Communication Specialist at ADPC and other faculty of Dhaka University were present at the awarding ceremony. The campaign encouraged university students and journalists around the country to act as advocates for better preparedness for disasters, which pose a growing threat to all citizens. The campaign was implemented in cooperation with the University of Dhaka, Daffodil International University in Dhaka, Asian University for Women in Chittagong, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, and Khulna University. Based on their reports and presentation, the students of Daffodil International University won the prestigious award competing against students of other public and private universities.

Seminar on Innovative Green Brick Technology: Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation, May 2014

The Department of Environmental Science & Disaster Management (ESDM) of Daffodil International University (DIU) organized a seminar on ‘Innovative Green Brick Technology: Climate Change Mitigation & Adaptation’ in association with Yu Jin Tech and ASP Green Technology Ltd on 26 May 2014 in the DIU Auditorium. Speakers at the seminar stressed the importance of motivating people to act collectively to implement environment friendly green technology to transform the traditional brick sector into an improved & well regulated industry. Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahbub-Ul-Haque Majumder, Dean, Faculty of Science and Information Technology, DIU; Mr. Lee Chong Luk, Chairman, Yu Jin Tech Ltd.; and Mr. Wang Sup Kim, Chemical Engineer, Yu Jin Tech Ltd. were present as Special Guests. Professor Mahbub Hasan, Executive Director, Engineering Resources International (ERI), presented the keynote paper at the seminar.

Field Visit to Cumilla by the Department of ESDM, 2015

The Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, DIU, arranged a day-long field visit to Comilla, exploring places like Mainamati Shalbon Bihar and BARD (Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development) . The aim was to observe the physiology and biodiversity of these places. Dr. A. B. M. Kamal Pasha, Head, ESDM, along with other faculty members were guiding the students to gather information and made the field visit very successful.

14th Foundation Day, DIU, 2016

The Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, DIU, successfully participated in the 14th Foundation Day as its students attended the project fair. Their aim was to show the program called ‘Waste to Wealth’, related to recycling and waste management and was recognized as one of the winners in the project competition.

Field Visit to Sylhet, 2017

The students of the Dept. of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, DIU, recently visited Sylhet Division. The program was titled ‘Field Visit on Physiography and Geo-Environmental Changes In the Sylhet Region’ and took place from 17th to 20th February. It was supervised by Dr. ABM Kamal Pasha, Head of Department, along with other faculty members and catered to 40 students in all, 6 of them foreign. Ratargul Swamp Forest, Bisanakandi, Jaflong and Lalakhal were the locations set prior to the field visit. The students observed the natural beauties along with the changes brought by human interaction in those places by gathering various data and samples from there. Other than that, the students under the guidance of their teachers took part in a Proper Waste Disposal Methods campaign.

15th Foundation Day, DIU, 2017

As many times before, the students of ESDM Department participated in the project fair and arranged their project stall on the 15th foundation day of DIU. Their project, ‘Transport Network Model’, was declared one of the winners, showing the possibilities to eradicate traffic jams from the city through their plan.
