The Department of Development Studies fosters a culture of research where a blend of senior and young researchers are engaged in cutting-edge research on a host of contemporary domains such as governance, poverty, migration, sustainable development, women empowerment, social media, e-learning, IT-enabled education, blended learning and so on. Collaborative research environment between teachers and students enables the students to learn from the distinguished faculty members who already had their articles published in national and international reputed journals. The students get all kinds of institutional support in conducting their own research in the final semester where each and every student must write a thesis on a selected topic. All the students of this department must pass a course on “Research Methodology” where they get not only the theoretical frameworks on how to do research but also the practical hands-on experience under the direct supervision of the Director of Research Cell, DIU.
