Short Film “Boomerang” got Best Film Award in Social section of 12th International Children’s Film Festival 2019. The short film was made by Wahid Raj, Udoy Ksllol Ridoy, Saurav Sarker, Nishat Tasnim Anika and Zakia Sultana Anandi. They are final year students of Multimedia and Creative Technology Department in Daffodil International University. The advisor of this short film was Dr. Shaikh Muhammad Allayear and it was supervised by Samaun Hasan. In this festival 179 films from 32 different countries were screened. Boomerang is a stop motion animation which features social awareness. The award was given on 08 March in Central Public Library. This award is a great achievement for both MCT Department and DIU.

      • DIU students conquered i-ENVEX 2018 competition in Perlis, Malaysia

Students of DIU received 3 gold and 2 special awards in The International Engineering Invention Innovation Exhibition 2018( i-ENVEX 2018) which was held at Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) on 13th-14th April. DIU also received contribution award from UniMAP. Saif Ahmed Quarishi (ETE), FM Tanvir Hasan Raian, Rafiul Azam (both EEE) and Saikat Biswas (SWE) participated on i-ENVEX 2018 in Malaysia along with the mentors Asst. Prof Dr. Md. Mostafijur Rahman and Lecturer Khandaker M Qaiduzzaman of Department of Software Engineering.

      • DIU student Morsalin Akash awarded by The Daily Star as the winner of Newspaper Reading Competition

Muhammad Morsalin Akash, a student of the Department of English of Daffodil International University (DIU), has been awarded by The Daily Star as the winner of Newspaper Reading Competition. He has been awarded by Mr. Mahfuz Anam, the Editor and Publisher of The Daily Star, on 05 March 2018 in the Daily Star Center. Professor AMM Hamidur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Science, Mr. Md. Rakibul Hasan Khan, Head of the Department of English, and Mr. Md. Nuruzzaman Moral, Convener of the Newspaper Reading Project were also present in the occasion. This event was organized by The Daily Star to award the winners of Newspaper Reading Competition of different universities. Like Morsalin Akash of DIU, four other awardees were from University of Asia Pacific, Green University of Bangladesh, State University of Bangladesh and University of Development Alternative. Heads / representative teachers from all these universities were present in the occasion, who expressed their views and experiences of newspaper reading project at their respective universities. Md. Rakibul Hasan Khan, Head of the Department of English of DIU, stressed on the importance of reading newspaper in his speech. He also shared his experience of running this project at DIU. Mr. Mahfuz Anam delivered a very insightful and inspirational speech on the importance of reading newspaper, especially in a globalized world. The event came to an end with light refreshment

      • DIU student Khondoker Abu Talha conferred with Faraaz Hossain Courage Award

Daffodil International University student Khondaker Abu Talha, who heroically gave his life trying to fight against muggers in Dhaka, was conferred with “Faraaz Hossain Courage Award 2017” yesterday on 02 December 2017 at Hotel Radisson Blue in capital. He was conferred with the prize for his true courage and for standing up to protect fellow human beings facing extreme danger. Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, founder and chairperson of BRAC, and Shivakumar, Chairman and CEO of PepsiCo India, handed over the award, Certificate of Honour and the prize money of US $ 10,000/= to Talha’s father, mother and two sisters respectively at Dhaka Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel in Dhaka. Faraaz's grandfather Mr. Latifur Rahman, Chairman of Transcom Group, mother Simeen Hossain, elder brother Zaraif Ayaat Hossain and other eminent personalities were present at the award giving ceremony.

      • DIU Students attended SIAS Winter Camp-2017

A contingent of 12 students of Daffodil International University (DIU) is currently attending SIAS Winter Camp-2017 at SIAS International University, Zhengzhou, China from 14 to 28 December, 2017. The SIAS Winter Camp is a joint initiative of SIAS and DIU to share the learning and cross cultural experiences among the students of both university and thus DIU students is representing Bangladesh through their active participation in this two weeks program.
Within the two weeks of time, DIU students will complete course of Chinese language and Culture which will comprises knowledge in the area of Chinese Martial Arts, Chinese Painting, Chinese Character, Paper Cutting and so on. Students will discover some historical and famous places like Shaolin Temple, Chrysanthemum Flower Show, Longting Park Kaifeng, Hometown of Yellow Emperor, etc. Participating students from DIU will experience a highly international environment, allowing them to learn directly about the diverse history, culture and heritage of China

      • Students represent DIU in the International Volunteer Exchange Program

A team of community leaders comprising students and employees from Daffodil International University are being attended International Volunteer Exchange Program jointly organized by KIIT University & Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences - KISS in Odisha, India for a week from 09 Oct 2017 to 16 Oct 2017.

      • DIU Student achieved Erasmus Mundus (Smartlink) European Scholarship

Mony Majumdar, student of Department of Software Engineering, Daffodil International University (DIU) has achieved Erasmus Mundus (Smartlink) European Scholarship funded by the European Union at the Lodz University of Technology, Poland for 1 year study from October 2017 to August 2018. After Arrival she enrolled in her academic courses and explored the beautiful campus of the university.

Cadet Corporal Nazrul Islam of Daffodil International University BNCC platoon has been selected as cadet ambassador of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps for Rajsthan tour in India. He is a proud student of Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Daffodil International University.

      • DIU Students participated in the ‘Frontrunner 2017’

Five students of Daffodil International University have got selected in the final round of the leadership programme titled 'Frontrunner 2017 (অগ্রগামী- ২০১৭)', jointly organized by Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka (MCCI, Dhaka) and Common Purpose, UK. DIU have made out the outstanding performance among 165 students of 15 public and private universities of Bangladesh. Office of the Director of Students’ Affairs of DIU has groomed up these students and helped them to apply in this prestigious leadership programme. MCCI invited students from DIU to participate in this leadership programme. 13 students from different departments got nominated by the respective Heads of the Departments.

      • DIU Student Hemata Sadik’s film ‘A Letter to God’ wins ‘Best Drama’ & ‘Jury Award’ at Hollywood and Norway

Short film ‘A Letter to God’ directed by Hemanta Sadik, a student of Journalism and Mass Communication of Daffodil International University has won ‘Best Drama’ and ‘Jury Award’ in real to real global youth award at Hollywood and Ringerike International Youth Film Festival at Norway respectively. Real to Real Global Youth film Festival was held at Los Angeles Film School, USA on 7th October, 2017. From 200 film, there were 12 film from world has won prizes in best drama, best documentary, best action, best experimental, best comedy and best animation category. A letter to God has won Best Drama award among those six categories. In every year Real to Real Global Youth film Festival held in Hollywood. Young film makers attend this festival from world. This year, Daffodil International University student Hemanta Sadik attends the festival from Bangladesh as a representative. Finally, his short film ‘A Letter to God’ won best drama award. Hemanta Sadik is now staying in Norway and his film ‘A Letter to God’ has won ‘Jury Award’ in Ringerike International Youth Film Festival. He won this award competing among 70 films from 40 countries around the world. Hemanta Sadik also made a film on that festival where Popular actor Anton of Norway has performed. Editing of this film will be started after coming back in Bangladesh, added Hemanta. Beside this, he rendered a Lalon song on that festival. Young Director Hemanta Sadik informed that, after Norway festival, he will go to Italy to attend another festival. It may be mentioned here that, ‘A Letter to God’ has already won 11 awards and nominations from various Festivals.

      • DIU student Farzia Afrin Mou obtained 2nd Position in Inter University Poetry Competition

Farzia Afrin Mou, a student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and an active member of DIU Cultural Club took part in the Inter University Poetry Competition which was organized by Bangladesh University of Engineering Technology (BUET). Around 80 participants from different public and private universities took part in this grand event. Among these 80 participants Farzia Afrin Mou secured the Second Place and uplift5 the image of Daffodil International University.

      • DIU students received prizes from Nazrul Institute for essay writing on Nazrul

Daffodil Institute of Languages (DIL) with the help of DSA office arranged an essay competition on national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in collaboration with Nazrul Institute on the occasion of 41st death anniversary of the poet. Five students of Daffodil International University (DIU) received prizes for their writings. The trophies, books and certificates were distributed among the prize winners at a program held at the National Museum. The prize recipients are Mahadi Sagor (English), Arifa Jannat (CSE), Md. Anisur Rahman (Journalism and Mass Communication), Redoan Ahmed Maraz (Textile Engineering) and Md. Ibrahim Ali Bakul (EEE). The prize recipients met the Vice Chancellor of Daffodil International University Professor Dr. Yousuf Mahbubul Islam on 18 October 2017. During the meeting, Dr. Binoy Barman, Director of DIL, and Mr. Syed Mizanur Rahman Raju, Director of Student Affairs and Head of GED, were present. The winning DIU students of essay competition of Nazrul Institute to mark the 41st death anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam pose for a photograph with Professor Dr. Yousuf M Islam, Vice Chancellor along with Dr. Binoy Barman, Director of DIL and Syed Mizanur Rahman, Director of Student Affairs.

The nanes of Dipta Chakraborty and S.M. Firuz Kabir, 2 Bangladeshi young cyclists and student of Daffodil International University have been placed in Guinness Book of World Records in `Longest Single Line’ category on cycling. Dipta is a student of 8th semester in BBA and Firuz is a student of 6th semester in Multimedia and Creative Technology Department. The two students received the official certificates and medallions from Guinness Book of World Records on April 22 & 28, 2017. On January 17, 2017 official Guinness Book of World Records declared that Bangladesh has made the record on Longest Single Line category.

DIU team “Sun-Beam” consists of six students of Electrical and Electronic Engineering ( EEE) department of Daffodil International University has won 1st Runners-up prize in the ‘Power and energy crisis in the Industry sector’ category at National Energy Hackathon-2017, organized and patronized by Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources of Government of Bangladesh held on 19-20 April comprising 36 hours Hackathon along with several keynote and mentoring sessions at Bashundhara Convention Center, Dhaka.

      • DIU-Smart Students” – a Mobile App

Daffodil International University Mobile App (IOS & Android) named “DIU-Smart Students” has formally been inaugurated on March 25, 2017 at DIU Conference Room. Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Daffodil Family inaugurated the DIU Mobile App as the Chief Guest.
DIU Mobile App (IOS & Android) for the students of Daffodil International University (DIU) has added all features needed for a smart student. Students and guardians will get all sorts of information like result, Payment, Notice, Class Routine, news feed and exam schedule through this apps. Moreover, Law enforcing agencies also could be able to track any DIU student through this app. DIU-Smart Students app can be downloaded from Google Play Store and IOS Store.

Md. Zahidul Islam, a student of ETE department of Daffodil International University has been awarded 2nd runner's up position in the TELCO Tele War Competition held in East West University on 29th November 2016..There were about 500 participants and competitors from 32 public and private universities of Bangladesh.
We congratulate Mr. Zahidul Islam for his outstanding performance and bringing honor for DIU. We wish him all success in near future.

      • DIU students project ‘Anirbaan: An Intelligent Robot’ wins award at 2nd International Art Creativity and Engineering Exhibition-2016

A two members team of Daffodil International University led by Md. Hasib Mahmud Rabby, student of the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Md. Towfiqul Alom Student of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering attended the 2nd International Art Creativity and Engineering Exhibition-2016 held during 20 to 21 July 2016 in University Ubudiyah Indonesia with their project ‘Anirbaan: An Intelligent Robot’ and won three awards on outstanding innovation and project in I+ ACEH at University Ubudiyah Indonesia, and achieved a special award for innovation idea awarded by Dr. Hong, President of Korean Innovation Academy.
2nd I + ACEH 2016 is an international innovation exhibition where around 85 teams from various countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Canada, USA, South Korea, Thailand and Bangladesh were attending, which was divided into four categories of competition; recycling art competition, creativity and innovation competition, robotics competition and engineering technology competition.
‘Anirbaan’ is a remote-controlled Robot used for Intelligent Spy with Action cameras, flexible, small size and less weight. The robot has the function to collect the temperature; obstacle and gas censored data of an unexplored area or cave and provide it as a report for the rescue moments through mobile apps. The system can be run practically everywhere providing a small place for over 15 minutes and send the information via wireless video transmitter downlinks using live signal to the camera operator.
