Short Description

This course is designed to provide basic concepts of civil engineering drawings. Students will learn how to construct all architectural, structural and other drawings. It includes lettering, plane geometry, different geometric constructions, types of lines, perspective projections, orthographic projections, structural floor plan of a building etc.

Short Description

This course is designed to provide civil engineering undergraduates with basic understanding of the theory and practice of engineering surveying techniques. Students will apply the knowledge gained from theoretical surveying to practice. Fieldworks covered include chain surveying, plane table surveying, theodolite traverse surveying, leveling, curve setting, houses setting etc. It is hoped that students will gain valuable insight into surveying after completion of this course, which will also help them in their professional life.

Short Description

Environmental engineering is the application of science and engineering principles to protect and utilize natural resources, control environmental pollution, improve environmental quality to enable healthy ecosystems and comfortable habitation of humans. It is based on multiple disciplines including geology, hydrology, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering management, etc. This lab mainly deals with the determination of physio-chemical and bacteriological properties of water. This will also aid to determine optimum dosing for common physio chemical treatments. The lab contains relevant fundamental chemistry and biology concepts/theories and their applications in environmental engineering. The key tests include Physical, chemical and bacteriological tests of water and wastewater.

Short Description

Geotechnical Engineering lab which deals with the property and behavior of soil and rock for engineering purposes. To obtain different properties of soil, laboratory tests are performed on collected disturbed and undisturbed soil samples, while field tests are performed on subsoil at in-situ condition following mainly standard ASTM methods. This Lab manual mainly deals with the common and standard laboratory tests on different types of soil.

Pycnometer, Sieve, Hydrometer, Standard proctor mould with collar and hammer (ASTM), Digital balance, Desiccator, Hot air oven, DCPT, Liquid limit device.

Short Description

This laboratory is widely able to give the basic ideas to students regarding transportation engineering. Presents the standardized test procedures to carry out the tests on aggregates, tests on bituminous materials, and Marshall Mix Design test, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) test etc. The procedures and standards are mentioned as per American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and British Standard (BS) designations.

Los Angle Abrasion Test for Aggregate, Sieve, Elongation Index Apparatus, Flakiness Index Apparatus, Pycnometer, Digital balance.
