Celebrating 13 Years of Excellence in Public Health & Welcoming Our Freshers! 🎉

📅 February 01, 2025

The Department of Public Health at DIU proudly celebrated its 13th Foundation Day, marking over a decade of academic excellence, research, and community impact. The event also served as a warm welcome to our newest batch of students.

We were honored to have Professor Dr. Mohammad Ali, Bangladesh’s pioneering Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic surgeon and founder of the National Liver Foundation, as our Chief Guest. His groundbreaking contributions, including the nation’s first successful liver transplant, continue to inspire progress in healthcare.

✅ Professor Dr. ABM Alauddin Chowdhury – Head, Department of Public Health, for his inspiring welcome speech and appreciation of all HoDs and colleagues for their contributions in making ‘Medical and Health’ a globally top-ranked subject.

✅ Dr. Md. Sarowar Hossain – Associate Dean, FHLS, for his motivating words that energized both students and faculty.

✅ Professor Dr. Azizur Rahman – Visiting Professor, DIU, for his invaluable contributions to public health education.

✅ Professor Dr. Md. Bellal Hossain – Dean, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS), who thanked the HoD and his team for their tireless efforts in making the department number one, including groundbreaking achievements in hepatitis awareness, impactful research publications, and global recognition.

✅ Professor Dr. Salamat Khandker – Who honored the legacy of Founding Head, the late Professor Dr. Shah Keramat Ali, highlighting how his vision continues to drive the department’s achievements.

✅ Dr. Arif Chowdhury – Delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all for the well-organized, grand success of today’s program, including the delightful Pitha Utshab and an amazing cultural program by our multitalented Public Health students.

The event was filled with enthusiasm, inspiration, and a shared commitment to advancing public health—both in Bangladesh and beyond. The Pitha Utshab added a rich cultural flavor, while the incredible performances by our talented students made the celebration even more vibrant.

As we step into a new chapter, we remain dedicated to nurturing future public health leaders and driving meaningful impact in global health. 🚀✨
