Daffodil International University (DIU) is recognized in independent government assessments as one of top graded universities in Bangladesh. The University today combines impressive modern facilities and a dynamic approach to teaching and research with its proud heritage of service and achievement. DIU is striving for the highest level of standards in curriculum, teaching, faculties and other activities that can realize the full potential of the academic community within the university. The vision reflects the service to the society.
Department of Computer Science and Engineering was founded in 2002 at the same time of the university. Ever since the aspiration of creating new dimensions, the department has grown to good number of faculties, students and numerous research and support staff. The mission is to pursue research, learning and teaching of international distinction for the benefit of the nation.
The story behind the Yes You Can team is actually from the enthusiasms, will and determinations among the group members that reflects from their slogans “A Journey To Make The World Green” and “A Story of Chasing The Universe”.
The young and talented students (22 of them team name: Yes You Can) from the department of the Computer Science and Engineering at Daffodil International University has come up with an exceptional and outstanding project concept called "Solar Car" (7' long X 4' wide) for this green technology time of the earth. This is a complete and actual sized two seated solar car powered by the green technologies.
This Car weight 150KG that could carry two-three person’s weight. It has 5 Solar panels with each 12Volts in total 48 Volts with (50Watt x 4) + 80Watt = 280 Watt (in total); 4 pieces 12Watt Batteries in total 48Volts; one Solar Charge Controller; one high capacity Motor which 500rpm, 500Watt, 48Volts; one Motor Controller; along with associated parts and materials.
In full charge state, this car is capable to run with two persons for 6 (six) hours at a time. The speed level of this car is 45km/hour. This car is fully solar car, charged from solar panel and need not any other supporting fuels. The future of this solar car is very prospective; it could reduce electricity consumptions where in most of districts in Bangladesh, lots of electricity motor vehicles are running on roads that used to charges from direct electricity connections. It also reduces the pressure of fuels and Gas used by different vehicles e.g. Oil, Mobil, Octane, Diesel, Petrol.
The captain of this group, Mr. Md. Abdulla Al Noman along with all group members are very enthusiastic, creative and determined to complete the project with vigor zeal, energy and team work. This project is supervised by Mr. A B M Moniruzzaman, principal supervisor and official facilitator; Dr. Sheak Rashed Haider Noori supervisor; Mr. Habibur Rahman, technical supervisor under the guidance of head of the CSE department Prof. Dr. Syed Akhter Hossain and patronized by Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman of BoT, Daffodil International University.
At ICCIT2014 international conference on 22 December 2014 at Ashulia Mr. Zunaid Ahmed Palak MP, Honorable State Minister of the ICT division visited and driven our Solar Car.
This project had been invited by ICT ministry and showcased at Digital World 2015 at BICC, Agargoan.
This team had participated with this innovative Solar Car in the Asia's largest Solar technology event: ESVC.
DIU Solar Car had received “Future Award” in the Asia's largest Solar technology event: ESVC - Electric Solar Vehicle Championship 2014-2015, organized by Imperial Society of Innovative Engineers (ISIE) which had been held at Maharishi Markandeshwar University ( MMU); Mullana – Ambala, 133-207, Haryana, India; on dates 16th March to 19th March 2015.
This project had jointly sponsored and funded by ICT Division, Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Daffodil International University.
