Daffodil Butterfly Fair-2015 held today at Jahangirnagar University

“Urley Akashey Projapoti, Prokrity pai notun goti” based on this slogan, Daffodil Butterfly Fair-2015 was held on December 11, 2015 at Jahangirnagar University campus. Professor Dr. Abul Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Acting Vice Chancellor of Jahangir Nagar University inaugurated the day long fair as the chief guest. Professor Dr. Abul Khayer, Treasure of Jahangirnagar University, Professor Dr. S. M. Mahbub-ul-Haque Majumder, Dean, Faculty of Science and IT Daffodil International University and Ishtiaq Uddin Ahmed, Country Director of International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) were present as the special guests of inauguration ceremony. Presided over by Prof. Dr. Md. Monwar Hossain, Convener, Butterfly Fair Organizing Committee, the function was addressed by Prof. Abdul Jobbar Hawlader, Dean, Faculty of Biological Science of Jahangirnagar University. The fair was organized by Zoology Department of Jahangirnagar University and is sponsored by Daffodil International University. The fair was supported by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) and Prokrity o Jibon Foundation. In the Butterfly fair, International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) was awarded for its outstanding contribution for conservation of animal diversity and Ibrahim Khalil Al Haider –a student of Chittagong University was awarded as ‘Young Butterfly Enthusiast’. Beside this a Butterfly Park was inaugurated at the campus premises where exists live butterfly, butterfly friendly trees and reproductive zone along with garden. Daylong Fair included Drawing Competition for Children, Photography Exhibition, Live Butterfly Display, Inauguration of butterfly Park & Research Centre (BPRC), Butterfly-like kite flying for Children, Butterfly Race, A barwary Debate Competition on “Butterfly and Climate Chance”, Documentary on “Butterfly and its Habit and Prize giving ceremony.
