An educated community is essential for preserving archaeological sites, which is really rare in Bangladesh. A community that values and protects its archaeological infrastructure will contribute to the successful development of a project with funds, volunteers and political support. Keeping it in mind, Daffodil International University as a part of its Social Responsibility donated a Microbus to Oitihya-Onneswan (Archeological Research Center) - a research based organization on Archeological development in Bangladesh to assist and support in their research work.
Prof. Dr. M. Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor Daffodil International University handed over the key of the microbus to Professor Dr. Sufi Mostafizur Rahman, Executive Director of Oitihya- Onneswan on November 09, 2014 at DIU premises. Mr. Md. Sabur Khan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, Professor Dr. M. Golam Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Professor Dr. Engr. A K M Fazlul Hoque, Registrar of Daffodil International University were present during handing over the Microbus. From now and onward DIU student and Faculty members will get the opportunity to work with Oitihya- Onneswan jointly and explore themselves. ‘Oitihya Onneswan (Archaeological Research Centre)’, was established in 2006 to explore and excavate archaeological sites as well as research on Heritage Management such as documentation, conservation, preservation, awareness build up about public archaeology. The organization is involved in Wari-Bateshwar and Vikrampura for archaeological research and heritage management programme with UNESCO.
It is helping Oitihya-Onneswan in conducting their research in the archeological development in Bangladesh. The outcome of their research will enrich the archeological history of Bangladesh and our next generation will be able to discover other heritages of the country. It helps them to explore and excavate archaeological sites as well as research on Heritage Management such as documentation, conservation, preservation, awareness build up about public archaeology.
DIU students and Faculty members get the opportunity to work jointly with Oitihya- Onneswan to explore archaeological sites.
