Short Description

Food processing is the transformation of agricultural products into food, or of one form of food into other forms. Food processing includes many forms of processing foods, from grinding grain to make raw flour to home cooking to complex industrial methods used to make convenience foods. Some food processing methods play important roles in reducing food waste and improving food preservation, thus reducing the total environmental impact of agriculture and improving food security.

Short Description

Food industry is a highly growing sector in Bangladesh. Numbers of small and medium scale industries are increasing day by day and they require commercial testing service for different purposes e.g. BSTI certification, nutritional labelling, shelf life test, adulteration test etc. But there are a few private testing facilities exist.  The proposed Advanced Food Analysis Lab will enable NFE department to perform all the test service that has commercial demand. Besides testing service, it will create opportunity to provide training NFE students and others on advance analysis techniques which will contribute in producing skilled personnel for this sector.
